Arrival
At Grissom Elementary, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. To ensure a smooth and secure start to each day, it is essential that our arrival/dismissal procedures are followed carefully and consistently. The following expectations have been established to support this priority and promote a safe, efficient arrival/dismissal for all.
Arrival will begin at 6:30 am. Students who arrive after 7:45 am will be marked tardy.
Student Drop-Off:
- The car lane will run directly down Simsbrook Drive.
- Parents will enter the line on Simsbrook, they may not skip the line and enter the car lane by turning right from Stancliff.
- Parents may not park across the street from the school on Simsbrook to walk/send students across.
- Parking is not permitted within the carpool lane between 6:30 and 7:45 am.
- A staff member will open doors for students and usher them to the front entrance
- No double lane creating/parking allowed.

Dismissal
At Grissom Elementary, the safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. To ensure a smooth and secure start to each day, it is essential that our arrival/dismissal procedures are followed carefully and consistently. The following expectations have been established to support this priority and promote a safe, efficient arrival/dismissal for all.
Dismissal for students in grades PK - 1st will start at 3:00 pm.
Dismissal for students in grades 2nd - 5th will start at 4:00 pm.
Student Pick-Up
Car Riders:
- The car lane will run directly down Simsbrook Drive.
- Parents will enter the line on Simsbrook, they may not skip the line and enter the car lane by turning right from Stancliff.
- Dismissal tags must be displayed for staff members. Parents who do not have a dismissal tag must be verified before student(s) are released. If you have misplaced your dismissal tag or are in need of another, please visit the front office.
- Parents may not park across the street from the school on Simsbrook to retrieve students.
- Parking is not permitted within the carpool lane between 2:30 and 4:30 pm. If you need to leave your car, you must park past near the "No U-Turn" sign.
- A staff member will open doors for students to place them in their cars.
Walkers:
- Walkers will be escorted to the walker gate at dismissal time.
- Parents will have to show their dismissal tag in order to retrieve walkers from teachers. Parents who do not have a dismissal tag must be verified before student(s) are released. If you have misplaced your dismissal tag or are in need of another, please visit the front office.
- Parents in cars will not be allowed to pick up students at the walker gate and will be directed to the car lane.
In order to make a dismissal change, you must contact the front office no later than 2:00 pm to notify us.

Lunch
Students are allowed to have visitors during lunch. You must be on the students' pickup list in PowerSchool. You must also be VIPs approved. You may apply for VIPS using this link - VIPs Application.
Lunch times are as follows:
Pre-K - 10:00 - 10:30
Kinder - 12:30 - 1:00
1st - 11:30 - 12:00
2nd - 11:30 - 12:00
3rd - 11:00 - 11:30
4th - 10:30 - 11:00
5th - 12:00 - 12:30
Early Pickup
At Grissom, one of our top priorities is student safety. To ensure safety for all students we have put the following safeguards in place:
- Early pickup ends at 3:00 pm everyday for all grade levels.
- Any adult picking up a student must be listed on the students' pickup list in PowerSchool. If you need to make changes to your child's pickup list, please visit the front office.
- All adults must present valid ID when picking up students. No exceptions.
