Hello! My name is Monica Garza, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Grissom Elementary. With over 22 years of experience in education, I am passionate about creating a learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
My educational background includes a degree from Point Loma University and the University of Phoenix. Throughout my career, I have served as classroom teacher, at risk teacher, assistant principal and principal, always with a focus on student achievement and the well-being of every student.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, cooking and most importantly spending time with family and friends. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make this school year a meaningful and successful one!

Hi there! I’m Gazelle Robinson, a proud Houston native and third-year assistant principal who’s passionate about helping students grow and thrive. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Child Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. I believe every student is capable of learning, and I’m committed to making sure they feel supported, challenged, and celebrated every step of the way.
Outside of school, I’m all about good vibes! Whether I’m discovering new food spots (Houston has the best eats, don’t argue with me!), curating playlists that keep me dancing through the day, or repping my beloved sisterhood as a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Education is my calling, but music, food, and fun keep me balanced and full of joy!
Assistant Principal, Grissom Elementary
I’ve been in education since 2016, and I’m excited to begin my second year at Grissom Elementary and with HISD. I graduated from Prairie View A&M University, and my journey in education has been driven by a passion for supporting student success and fostering an environment of excellence. When I'm not at school, I enjoy traveling to new places, reading books that broaden my perspective, and spending time with my amazing dog, Daphne. I'm also proud to be an uncle to three nieces and three nephews, who always keep life interesting! I'm looking forward to another great school year filled with new opportunities for growth, learning, and community.
